Osso Bucco
"Very, very good — the meat was seasoned and cooked wonderfully." Fall-apart braised shank over scratch mashed potatoes in a deep, glossy gravy.

Scratch-made food, craft cocktails, and a warm, low-lit room worth finding — the neighborhood table that out-of-towners drive across the county for.
Mean Deans Local Kitchen is the kind of place Bradenton keeps to itself. Behind the deco fork on the sign you'll find reclaimed-wood walls, Edison lights strung low over the bar, and a kitchen that cooks the way kitchens used to — by hand, in-house, from scratch.
The menu reaches further than the strip-mall address ever lets on: buffalo gator bites and bora bora shrimp, lobster lasagna and slow-braised osso bucco, shrimp & grits and a five-cheese mac that regulars order without looking. Full liquor, craft cocktails, and a thoughtful mocktail list mean nobody gets left out of a good evening.
It's run by people who remember your server's name as fast as you do — the kind of friendly, attentive crew guests call out by name in review after review. Comfortable enough for a Tuesday, special enough to be the spot you bring out-of-town family to prove you live somewhere good.

The Buffalo gator bites landed first: crispy, tender, and perfectly sauced. Then came the lobster lasagna — rich, indulgent, and balanced with care. Adventurous eats, expertly executed, and a crew that knows their craft. Galaxy-level delicious.
Lobster Lasagna and the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese — both delicious. Fried oysters with a roumalade that had a tasty kick. We will definitely return.
Wonderful, delicious meals. Original recipes and fantastic service. We're from out of state and wanted local cuisine — we picked the right spot. Highly recommend Mean Deans!
Much busier than anticipated, but we were seated immediately. Our server, Ryan, was an absolute joy — great recommendations and one step ahead all night. The osso bucco was very, very good, the shrimp cooked perfectly. Considering the quality, the price felt more than reasonable. Definitely give this place a try.
